Overview Mosaic decoration as an art form has a history that dates back to long before the birth of Christ. Although the
techniques used since ancient times remain laregly unchanged, our tools and materials today are much improved.
Small fragments or tiles of pottery, stone or glass (as in Patrice's work) ----called tesserae --- which come in a wide range of colors are used to create a mosaic "painting" as a decorative treatment for floors, walls and ceilings.
